Baghdad, Erbil and oil companies renew oil-export framework
SOMO says the tripartite arrangement governing Kurdistan Region oil exports has been extended for six months, with a possible further extension.
The renewal follows Iraq and Turkey’s new one-year agreement covering exports through Ceyhan. SOMO director general Ali Nizar told Rudaw that the framework provides an administrative and legal basis for cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil on transport and exports. He said Kurdistan Region deliveries to SOMO had fallen to about 50,000 barrels a day amid security disruptions, while Iraq is pursuing alternative export routes.
