Kurdistan Region says customs-system rollout can proceed after revenue deal

The Kurdistan Region’s interior minister says Baghdad and Erbil have settled the remaining revenue-sharing issue blocking ASYCUDA implementation at regional border crossings.

Interior Minister Rebar Ahmad said customs revenue will be split equally and handled through a dedicated account, clearing the way for the UN-developed electronic customs platform. The system is meant to standardize border procedures, improve revenue accounting and reduce delays that traders and drivers have reported at internal checkpoints.
