Iraq reports six million firearms registered in national weapons drive
Interior Ministry says it has also shut 71 offices falsely claiming PMF links.
Iraq’s Interior Ministry said its registration campaign has logged about six million firearms ahead of a December 31 deadline. The ministry said 71 purported Popular Mobilization Forces offices and 119 weapons shops were closed; the PMF said the offices had no connection to it. The announcement is a significant update in Baghdad’s effort to bring weapons under state control.
